Nyay: The Justice not a biopic of Sushant: makers tell court

The makers of Nyay: The Justice, an upcoming film supposedly based on late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s life, have told the Delhi High Court that the film does not depict his caricature, name, or likeness as it is not a biopic on him, PTI reported.

Sushant’s father had filed a plea seeking a ban on upcoming films based on Sushant’s life. He had asked the Delhi HC for an injunction against any other film, publication, caricature, etc based on the actor. Along with Nyay, two other films titled Suicide or Murder: A star was lost and Shashank were also mentioned.

Reserving judgement on the matter, the court on Wednesday said it would most likely deliver the verdict before June 11, failing which the movie’s release would be held back, the PTI report stated.

However, the makers' lawyer contended that since the film has been widely publicised, he can't give any assurance with regard to holding it back.

Nyay: The Justice is scheduled to be released on June 11.

Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide in June last year.
