Black Choke moves to HBO Max

The script reportedly follows a bank robbery gone wrong

HBO Max Films has reportedly bagged the rights of a neo-noir spec script titled Black Choke by Doug Simon. Filmmaker Lawrence Michael Levine, who directed Wild Canaries (2014) and the Aubrey Plaza-starrer Black Bear (2020), is attached to direct the project.

According to Deadline, the script follows a bank robbery gone wrong, and Tracey Nyberg, Michael Costigan, and Jason Bateman of Aggregate Films are currently attached to produce.

Meanwhile, Simon is also working on a feature film script titled, Frost & Fire, based on a short story from Ray Bradbury by the same name. On the other hand, HBO Max's upcoming originals include Son of MonarchsEvil Dead RiseBatgirl, and Moonshot, among others.
