Filmmaker Albert Hughes has been roped in to helm the prequel series based on the action film franchise, John Wick. The series, titled The Continental, set in the iconic, eponymous hotel from the John Wick films, will reportedly consist of three episodes, each with a 90-minute runtime.

According to reports, Hughes will be directing the first and the third episode, while Lionsgate and Starz, the studios behind the series, are yet to finalise the director for the second episode. Hughes, however, will be serving as an executive producer on all three episodes. Chad Stahelski, the director of the John Wick films, will also be executive producing the series along with screenwriter Derek Kolstad.

Hughes' directorial credits include Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, From Hell, and The Book of Eli. Further details related to the series are still underwraps.

Meanwhile, John Wick 4 is currently under production and is slated to release on May 27, 2022.
