Bhuj- The Pride of India trailer out: Ajay Devgn saves the day

CE Features

The trailer for Bhuj: The Pride of India is out. Set in Gujarat, the film takes place during the Indo-Pak war of 1971.

After the Pakistani Air Force levels the Bhuj airbase, the Indian side is left scrambling. A huge offensive – 100 tanks, 1800 soldiers – is closing in, and must be countered at all costs. This leaves Vijay Karnik (Ajay Devgn), a real-life squadron leader in the Indian Air Force, to restore the base by night, with the help of 300 local women. With the entire country at stake, you can forgive Vijay for not dropping the best punchlines. When a man simply says, "Taj Mahal pyaar ki nishani hain (Taj Mahal is the symbol of love), Vijay responds in the aggressively paternal. "Toh Hindustan tere baap ki kahani hai (India is the story of your father.)

Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Bhuj has a massive ensemble. Sonakshi Sinha stars as Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, a Gujarati social worker who joins the Indian campaign. Sanjay Dutt intrigues as a local scout, based on the real-life hero Ranchhod Pagi, a Rabari herder from Kutch who could deduce crucial intelligence (the trailer also has him fighting in the trenches).

Other notables in the trailer are Nora Fatehi (as a Indian agent in Pakistan), and Sharad Kelkar (as a former boxer turned officer).

Bhuj: The Pride of India was shoot over two years in multiple locations. The film is scheduled to release on Disney+ Hotstar VIP on August 13.
