Dhanush-Mari Selvaraj's Karnan to be released this April

Mari Selvaraj and Dhanush's upcoming film, Karnan will get a worldwide theatrical release this April. The announcement was made by the actor and the Karnan team earlier today. 

Karnan, which marks Mari Selvaraj's second film after Pariyerum Perumal, is bankrolled by Kalaippuli S Thanu's V Creations banner. 

Sharing the announcement, along with a teaser of the film, Dhanush wrote, "Karnan releases April 2021 in theatres. A much needed encouraging news at the right time. Thank you Thanu sir for thinking of the theatre owners, distributors, exhibitors, and everybody whose livelihood is dependent on films and theatres, even though you had other options. A big thank you on behalf of my fans as this means a lot to them. Love you all. Spread love."

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Jagame Thandhiram, Dhanush's film with Karthik Subbaraj, might skip the theatres to become a direct-to-OTT release. However, Dhanush has been actively supporting theatres and advocating theatrical releases over OTT. 

Apart from these two films, the actor also has an interesting line-up of films that includes Karthick Naren's D43, Naane Varuven and Aayirathil Oruvan 2 with Selvaraghavan, Aanand L Rai's Atrangi Re, and Netflix's The Gray Man. 

On the other hand, Mari is gearing up to begin his third project. Billed as a sports drama, the film starring Dhruv Vikram in the lead will be bankrolled by Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions.
