Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has a funny response to social activist Anna Hazare announcing a fast against the three contentious farm laws, only to cancel it hours later.

In a tweet, Hansal wrote that he had supported Anna in good faith, like he later supported Arvind (Kejriwal). “I supported him (Anna) in good faith. Like I later supported Arvind. I don't regret it. All of us make mistakes. I made Simran,” Hansal wrote.

Released in 2017, Simran was a comedy caper film starring Kangana Ranaut. The film’s release was shadowed by a credit controversy between Kangana and screenwriter Apurva Asrani. Apurva had hit out at the actor for claiming to have co-written the film. He had also blamed Hansal for his silence over the issue. (The duo had later patched up on Twitter, with Apurva telling a publication ‘I think our bond can absorb a Simran or two.’)

Hansal Mehta had two releases in 2020 — Scam 1992 and Chhalaang. His next film is a commercial thriller being produced by Anubhav Sinha.
