Malayalam actor Unnikrishnan Namboothiri has passed away. He was 98. It was reported earlier that he was affected by COVID-19 and that a day ago he had tested negative for the same.

Known mostly for his appearances in father and grandfather roles, Unnikrishnan Namboothiri made his acting debut with Jayaraj's Deshadanam in 1996.

He went on to make short but notable appearances in films such as Kaliyattam, Kalyanaraman, and Kandukondain Kandukondain. He hails from Payyannur, Kerala.

He is the father-in-law of veteran music composer Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri. He is survived by his children Devi, Bhavadas, Yamuna, and PV Kunhikrishnan.
