Ben Affleck will be directing the upcoming adaptation of the bestselling book series Keeper of the Lost Cities for Disney. Apart from helming it, the actor-filmmaker will also produce the live-action project through his banner Pearl Street.

Affleck is presently working on the script with writer Kate Gritmon. Penned by Shannon Messenger, Keeper of the Lost Cities revolves around a girl with telepathic abilities,  who must find why she is the key to a new world before the wrong person finds the answer to it. "When 12-year-old Sophie finally discovers where her secret telepathic ability comes from, she learns she's actually not human but is from another world that exists in parallel with ours," reads the official plotline.

Affleck has previously directed films based on novels like The Town, Argo and Live By Night.

On the acting front, he has Deep Water, opposite Ana de Armas, and Ridley Scott's The Last Duel, co-starring Matt Damon and Adam Driver.
