Actor Catherine Tresa has been roped in to play one of the two female leads in Kalyan Ram's upcoming fantasy actioner, Tughlaq. She will be playing the role of a warrior queen in the film that marks the debut of Vasishta Mallidi as the director.

According to a source close to the development, the makers have unanimously agreed on Catherine playing the part and have recently conducted a look test as well. "The makers did a look test with Catherine on January 2 and are convinced by her looks and body language for the part. They will complete other discussions soon and make a formal announcement," informs the source.

The film, which is set in two timelines, the 13th century and present, showcases Kalyan Ram in a dual role — one as an infamous conqueror and the other a modern youth. Produced under NTR Arts, the film will go on floors later this year.

Kalyan Ram was last seen in Entha Manchivaadavuraa, while Catherine worked alongside Vijay Deverakonda in World Famous Lover.
