After 1983 and Action Hero Biju, director Abrid Shine is teaming up again with Nivin Pauly for his new film Mahaveeryar. Asif Ali joins Nivin in the film, which also marks Kannada actor Shanvi Srivastava's Malayalam debut.

Scripted by M Mukundan, Mahaveeryar stars Siddique and Lal as well.

Nivin's production house Pauly Jr Pictures is bankrolling the film jointly with Indian Movie Makers. The film, which went on floors today in Rajasthan, sees Asif and Nivin reuniting after a decade. They last starred together in Rajesh Pillai's Traffic and Joshiy's Sevenes.

Sharing the news, Nivin wrote, "Extremely happy to announce our next project — Mahaveeryar produced by Pauly Jr Pictures and Indian Movie Makers (Shamnas). Once again, joining hands with the super talented Abrid Shine. We also have a delightful cast featuring my brother Asif Ali, Lal sir, Siddique and Shanvi Srivastava. Rolling from today."

Abrid's last directorial was the action film, Kung Fu Master.
