Director Teja has announced a sequel to Chitram, the youthful entertainer released in 2000, which introduced late actor Uday Kiran to Telugu cinema. To be bankrolled by his own production house, Chitram Movies, in collaboration with S Studios, the film has been titled Chitram 1.1 and will start rolling in March.

Sharing the first look of the Chitram 1.1, Teja took to Twitter and wrote, "Will start shoot this year!"

Like the first film, Chitram 1.1 will feature a host of newcomers in prominent roles. RP Patnaik, who composed the music for Chitram, Nuvvu Nenu, Jayam, and Avunanna Kadanna, has reunited with Teja for this film.

Chitram, featuring Uday Kiran and Reema Sen in the lead roles, was a runaway hit that cemented Teja's place as the director. The film was also dubbed into Tamil and later remade in Kannada as Chithra
