True Lies TV show in development at CBS

Filmmaker and producer James Cameron is currently developing a True Lies TV show for CBS.

The 1994 original film helmed by Cameron had Arnold Schwarzenegger as Harry Tasker, a secret agent, and Jamie Lee Curtis, as Helen Tasker, Harry's wife who discovers his double life as a secret agent.

The movie was a huge hit at the box office with $378 million collection. Though there were talks of a franchise on cards, Cameron moved on to projects like Titanic and Avatar, and hence a sequel never materialised. Screenrant reports that Cameron was concerned about the climate post the 9/11 attacks, which changed his perception of the story.

Now, Cameron seems to have changed his mind, as a reboot is under development at CBS. Screenrant reported that Cameron will executive produce the series with McG directing the pilot and Matt Nix (Burn Notice) writing the script.

Notably, Cameron had previously executively produced Dark Angel, an action series starring Jessica Alba that ran on Fox from 2000 to 2002.
