Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey have been cast as Joel and Ellie in the upcoming HBO adaptation of The Last of Us. The popular video game franchise is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the aftermath of a deadly pandemic. The game’s director, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann, is co-creating the series with Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are both Game of Thrones alums. Pascal had essayed the character, Oberyn Martell, in the epic fantasy series. Ramsey, meanwhile, had delivered her breakout performance as Lyanna Mormont in the show.

The Last of Us follows Joel, a smuggler tasked to escort a teenage girl across the United States. Along the way, the duo encounter hordes of ‘Infected’ — humans turned into zombie-like creatures by a fungal outbreak.

Besides Game of Thrones, Pascal is known for Narcos and the ongoing The Mandalorian. He was most recently seen in Wonder Woman 1984 (as Maxwell Lord) and We Can Be Heroes.
