Actor Eesha Rebba, who was last seen in Raagala 24 Gantallo, is now ready to make her mark in Gunasekhar's mythological drama Shaakuntalam. According to a well-placed source, the Hyderabadi actor has been signed on to play a crucial role in the film headlined by Samantha Akkineni.

While the makers had no comment, but sources close to the film say she will be seen in a full-length role in the film. "Eesha will be seen as a close aide of Samantha and she will be getting way more screen time than usual in a supporting role. It's an important character which has a lot of meat in terms of performance," reveals a source close to the development.

Set in the backdrop of Himalayas, Shaakuntalam is based on Kalidasa's epic Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shakuntalam. The pre-production work is already underway and efforts are being made to kick-start the principal photography in summer. Meanwhile, a huge Himalayas set is being constructed under the supervision of art director Ashok in Hyderabad. The makers are also looking for an actor to play the role of Dushyantha in the movie.

Eesha, meanwhile, will be seen in her first web film — Pitta Kathalu, which will stream on February 12 on Netflix. She also plays a cameo in Akhil Akkineni-starrer Most Eligible Bachelor.
