The makers of Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film Acharya took to Twitter to announce that the shoot of the socio-political entertainer, except for two songs, has been completed. Braving the pandemic, the shoot of Acharya is progressing at a rapid pace at the specially erected Dharmasthali temple town set and the team is planning to complete the remaining songs in September. By then, Chiranjeevi is expected to wrap up the first schedule of the Telugu remake of Lucifer.

"Talkie of the most awaited film #Acharya has been completed. Shooting of two songs is yet to be completed (sic)," tweeted Matinee Entertainment, the production house of Acharya.

Directed by Koratala Siva, Acharya also features Ram Charan and Pooja Hegde in crucial cameos, with Kajal Aggarwal reuniting with Chiru for the second time after Khaidi No.150.

The film is a contemporary take over misappropriation and embezzlement of temple funds and donations by the Endowments Department. While Chiru plays the role of a carpenter-turned-social reformer, Charan plays the role of a naxalite.

Acharya was supposed to hit the screens on May 13, but the release has been postponed indefinitely due to the Covid-19 lockdown. Buzz is that the makers are contemplating releasing the film either on October 1 or January 7. Also starring Sangeetha Krish and Regina Cassandra, Acharya has music by Mani Sharma.
