Gouri Kishan has been signed to play the lead in Ulagammai, the upcoming comeback film of director Vijay Prakash, who previously helmed Kadhal FM. The film bankrolled by V Maheshwaran under the banner SVM Productions has music by Ilaiyaraaja. 

The film which marks the first solo lead project of Gouri, has Vetri Mithran paired opposite to her. Apart from them, the film has GM Sundar,  Arulmani and Pranav playing principal characters. Ulagammai is  based on Su Samuthiram's novel Oru Kottuku Veliye, which narrates a story of a communal clash that happened in Nellai, in 1970. 

The film went on floors a few days ago and the shooting is going in full swing. Ulagammai has dialogues by Gubendran, screenplay by Saravanan and cinematography by KV Mani.
