Godzilla vs Kong director Adam Wingard is in negotiations to direct the next MonsterVerse movie.

Legendary Studios' monster franchise began in 2014 with the release of Godzilla, and the success of the film propelled the franchise forward with 2017's Kong: Skull Island and 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters before building up towards this year's Godzilla vs Kong.

Though Godzilla vs Kong is just about to cross $400 million worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing MonsterVerse movie as of now, the future of MonsterVerse wasn't very clear to the fans.

Now, according to THR, Legendary is in early talks with Godzilla vs Kong director Adam Wingard to return for a new film. The report also states that there is no writer attached as of now and that one potential title of the film is Son of Kong.

Notably, 1933's Son of Kong film told the story of Kong discovering the existence of a child. However, fans will have to wait and watch if this theory holds true for the upcoming film. As of now, in MonsterVerse, Kong is believed to be the last of his kind.
