The latest Sony Pictures Animation production Vivo has been acquired by Netflix. The film was initially scheduled to release on June 4 in theatres. Netflix is yet to officially announce whether the film will keep its promised release date. The film features a voice cast led by actor-singer Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is voicing the film's main character, a kinkajou. In addition to proving his voice, Miranda has reportedly written 11 songs for the film.

Vivo is directed by Kirk DeMicco, best known for helming Dreamworks Animation's The Croods, and co-directed by Brandon Jeffords. Zoe Saldana, Brian Tyree Henry, and Nicole Byer are among other stars who are lending their voices to the musical.

Although it remains unclear whether Netflix will have a limited theatrical release before hitting the streaming platform, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s new musical drama, In the Heights, an adaptation of his Broadway show by the same name, is scheduled to hit screens theaters on June 11.
