The first look of Bigg Boss-fame Mugen Rao's upcoming film Velan was released today, and director Kavin Moorthy, in an exclusive chat with Cinema Express, has shared that Velan will feature Mugen in two looks - one as a high-school student and the other as a college-going youth.

The first look features Mugen against a backdrop depicting Tamil culture and Meenakshi Govindharaj, the female lead, in front of a backdrop depicting Malayalam culture.

Speaking about the film, Kavin says, "The story is primarily about a Tamilian and a Malayali. It also touches on the emotional father-son relationship between Mugen's character and his father."

The director adds that the story will also depict the 50-year spite between Mugen's family and the antagonist (played by Hareesh Peradi).

It was earlier reported that Soori will play a Malayali named Mamookka Dineshan in the film.

The family entertainer also stars Joe Malloori, Billy Murali, Thambi Ramaiah, Lollu Sabha Swaminathan, TM Karthik, Prankster Rahul, and Brigida Saga (of Aaha Kalyanam fame).

The film has music by Gopi Sundar, editing by Sarath and cinematography by Gopi Jagadeeswaran.

Velan is produced by Kalaimagan of Skyman Films International.

The dubbing of the film is in its final stages, with the makers aiming for a theatrical release in the first week of June.
