CE Features

A Captain America sequel is in early development. Marvel Studios has roped in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer Malcolm Spellman to write a new Captain America movie, with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier staff writer Dalan Musson.

There are no further details about the project, but the news comes just as the final episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier aired yesterday on Disney+.

In the finale - spoilers alert - Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) finally accepts the mantle of Captain America, which was first handed to him by an elderly Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Brandishing Cap’s shield and sporting a new red-white-and-blue costume, Sam saves the day alongside Steve’s buddy superhero Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), and in the show’s final credits, the title is updated to read Captain America and the Winter Soldier.

MCU's  Captain America movies The First Avenger, The Winter Soldier, and Civil War grossed over $2.2 billion worldwide.
