Madras High Court asks Lyca Production and Shankar to sort out their issues

CE Features

Madras High Court asked director Shankar and Lyca Productions to sort out their issues themselves and has adjourned the hearing to April 28.

Lyca Productions filed a petition at Madras High Court seeking a ban on Shankar from directing other films before completing their production venture Indian 2

Indian 2 is the sequel to Shankar and Kamal Haasan's 1996 blockbuster. The film went on floors in 2020 and was stalled after a crane accident on the sets killed three people. Later, due to the coronavirus lockdown, the film's shooting has been further delayed.

Meanwhile, the director has signed two new projects - a Telugu film with Ram Charna and the Anniyan Hindi remake with Ranveer Singh. Lyca Production, however, wants the director to finish Indian 2 before moving on to his next project.

Shankar has said that he is not abandoning the project but will resume the shooting. He also said he would re-shoot the portions involving actor Vivekh, who recently passed away due to cardiac arrest.

Indian 2 will bring back Kamal Haasan as the vigilante Senapathy who fights against corruption. The film also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Nedumudu Venu, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh in prominent roles.
