Akriti Singh’s Toofaan Mail will premiere at the 23rd UK Asian Film Festival. Based on real-life incidents from the 70s, the film marks Akriti’s directorial debut. She has previously acted in several films and written and directed 14 plays. The UK Asian Film Festival is the longest-running Asian Film event outside India. 

Speaking about Toofaan Mail’s premiere at the festival, Akriti said, “It’s heartening that the film has received so much love from all who've watched it, like the curators of UK Asian Film Festival 2021. The festival, whose theme is 'Ray of Hope', opens with our film at the Belgrade Theatre on May 27. I am looking forward to the audience's reaction.”

While she is excited about the screening, she is not sure about attending it in the present scenario. “I will be attending a question-answer session post the online screening. If travel restrictions are lifted, I might attend the festival in person.” 

The film has also been a part of the Youth Curated Choice Awards, where people below 25 caught the film. Akriti plans to have the film screened at other festivals. “We will send the film to other festivals. We are planning a theatrical release of the film, although there is too much uncertainty right now because of the Covid-19 situation.”
