The Rashmika Mandanna starrer Mysaa has been scheduled for a November 27 release in theatres worldwide, its producer UnFormula Films announced on Tuesday. Directed by first-time filmmaker Rawindra Pulle, the action film stars Rashmika in the role of a Gond woman, which required considerable pre-shoot preparation for the actor on the physical and emotional front. The actor has a scene in the film where her character holds her breath underwater for almost 20 hours. The makers describe it as the first underwater action scene from an actress in Asia.
Announcing the release date, the production banner wrote, "Resilient by nature. Fearless by choice. Unbreakable by spirit. Get ready to experience the world of Mysaa with Rashmika Mandanna like never before."
The film also stars Rahul Ravindran and Eshwari Rao in important roles. Rahul Ravindran directed Rashmika Mandanna in her last film in Telugu, The Girlfriend. Subsequently, Rashmika appeared in Cocktail 2, alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.
On the technical front, Mysaa has cinematographer Shreyaas P Krishna, composer Jakes Bejoy, editor Karthika Srinivas, art director GM Sekhar, and stunt director Kecha Khamphakdee. For the unversed, Kecha Khamphakdee is known for his work in films such as Troy, Baahubali: The Conclusion, 300, Ong Bak 2: The Beginning, and Jawan, among others.
The upcoming film is produced by Ajay Saipureddy, Anil Sayyapureddy, and Veerasai Gopa under the UnFormula Films banner. The makers have also mentioned the title in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam, hinting at a multilingual release. It is expected to drop on Netflix sometime after its theatrical release.
Rashmika's upcoming films also include Ranabaali, where she stars with Vijay Deverakonda. The film brings the star couple back together onscreen after collaborations on 2018's Geetha Govindam and 2019's Dear Comrade.
