AR Murugadoss and Om Prakash Bhatt to produce pan-Indian film 1947

The film will be helmed by Kannada director Pon Kumaran

Filmmaker AR Murugadoss and Bollywood producer Om Prakash Bhatt have announced they will jointly bankroll a pan-Indian film titled 1947. The film will be helmed by Kannada director Pon Kumaran. 

Kumaran had last directed Yajamana in Kannada, starring Darshan in the lead. Apart from directing several Kannada films, he had also penned the story and dialogues of Rajinikanth-KS Ravikumar's 2014 film Lingaa

The newly announced project is said to be made on a big scale and will go on floors soon. The producers are yet to announce the cast and crew of the period film. Well-known actors from across the country are expected to be a part of the ambitious project. 

Murugadoss is yet to announce his next directorial after last year's Darbar. He is currently awaiting the release of his production venture, Raangi, starring Trisha.
