Acharya to be released in June?

CE Features

The makers of Chiranjeevi-starrer Acharya are still trying to shift the release date of their film from May 13. While Chiranjeevi does not want to miss this date, director Koratala Siva is apparently not in favour of releasing the film in May due to Intermediate Board exams in Andhra Pradesh and also due to the ongoing second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Chiranjeevi doesn't want to postpone the film and is ready to shoot day-and-night to ensure a May 13 release. But Koratala Siva has other plans because the season has several exams in the offing and also the second wave of Covid-19 has left everyone flabbergasted. The distributors too feel the same and have suggested releasing the film in June," says a source close to the development.

Buzz has it that the filmmaker is now looking at releasing Acharya on June 18, provided the COVID-19 curve flattens by that time.

Also featuring Kajal Aggarwal, Ram Charan, Sonu Sood, and Pooja Hegde, Acharya is a socio-political entertainer set in the backdrop of Srikakulam. The film is a contemporary take on misappropriation and embezzlement of temple funds and donations by the Endowments Department.

The shooting of Acharya is currently underway on the Dharmasthali village set, where the team is filming a montage song with Charan and Pooja.
