Oscar-nominated The Father gets its Indian release date

The Father, which has been nominated in six categories at the 93rd Academy Awards, will be released in Indian theatres on April 23. The film, directed by Florian Zeller, stars Anthony Hopkins, Olivia Colman and Mark Gatiss. 

The Father had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on 27 January 2020. It has been nominated for Oscars in multiple categories, such as Best Film, Best Actor (for Anthony Hopkins), Best Supporting Actress (Olivia Colman), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Production Design.

Adapted from the critically acclaimed play Le Pere, the film narrates the story of an ageing man who battles dementia and his daughter who is forced to choose between her ailing parent and moving to Paris.

The Father went on to win several accolades and awards at British Independent Film Awards, Toronto International Film Festival and San Diego Film Critics Society Awards.
