After multiple production hurdles, filming of the second season of the fantasy series The Witcher has been wrapped up.

The Witcher is based on a series of novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. It follows the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive.

Henry Cavill leads the cast as Geralt of Rivia, alongside Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri. The first season of the series premiered in November 2019 and the streaming platform renewed the show for a sophomore run in December 2019.

Netflix posted a video confirming the wrap of the shoot in the UK. The footage shows cast and crew working wearing face shields, masks, and bumping elbows in place of shaking hands. The video, narrated by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, shows a glimpse of the scale of the production, with Hissrich revealing there were 158 shoot days spread out over a year.

Season 2 of the series has been in the works for some time now. It was initially delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Later, several crew members tested positive, which further delayed the production. Moreover, in January, Cavill confirmed reports of a hamstring injury, which he suffered late last year during the filming. The show continued its shoot without Cavill until he was able to return.
