With the prestigious Cannes film festival cancelled this year due to the pandemic, the festival committee will be organising a three-day special event from October 27-29. The event is organised in partnership with the Cannes City Council.

Palais des Festivals et des Congress will be the venue of the fest, which features four films from the 2020 official selection, short films selected in the competition, and the Cinefondation’s school films.

Emmanuel Courcol and Kad Merad’s Un triomphe (The Big Hit!) is set to open the fest. The special event concludes with the preview of Bruno Podalydes’ Les Deux Alfred, titled The French Tech in English. Cannes festival regular Naomi Kawase’s new film, Beginning will also be screened at the festival.

The festival committee announced that the Palme d’or awards will be given to short films. The jury members are yet to be announced by the festival.

The 74th edition of the festival will take place next year from May 11 to May 22.
