Tamil comedy actor Vadivel Balaji, who rose to fame with Vijay TV's comedy show Kalakka Povathu Yaaru, passed away today at a government hospital in Chennai. He was 45. Reports say he suffered a heart attack and was receiving treatment for the past 15 days.

Known for imitating the mannerisms and body language of comedy legend Vadivel, he was popularly called as 'Vadivel' Balaji. The comedian is also known for his performances in Siricha Pochu segment of TV show Adhu Idhu Yedhu. On the film front, he appeared in the Nayanthara-starrer Kolamaavu Kokila, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.

Vadivel Balaji's sudden demise has shocked his fans and condolences have been pouring in for the actor on social media. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
