Rajkummar Rao essays a PT instructor in his upcoming release, Chhalaang. The film, directed by Hansal Mehta, is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video.

Reflecting on the theme of education in the film, Rajkummar revealed how before his acting career took off, he was a dramatics teacher at a school in Gurgaon.

The actor said, “The call center had just started coming up in Gurgaon and a lot of my friends had joined call center jobs and I was not really good with language.” Thinking about a way of earning some extra pocket money, he decided to try something different. “I thought let me do what I love so I just joined the school called KV Public School in Gurgaon sector 14. Then, I did a play for their annual day function. I was there for three months, and during that time I focused on myself and learnt.”

Rajkummar enjoyed quite a bit of popularity among the students. “Students loved me because we were pretty much the same age. There was not much of an age difference; so they treated me like a friend.”

Chhalaang is scheduled for release on Amazon Prime Video on November 13.
