Suriya's Soorarai Pottru, directed by Sudha Kongara, is one of the most-anticipated Tamil films of the year, and the biggest Tamil project announced to have a direct OTT release.

Yesterday, Suriya had penned a letter saying the film's release was likely to be delayed due to pending NOC approvals. However, those NOCs have now been procured and Soorarai Pottru seems set to arrive on Amazon Prime on Diwali day.

The co-producer of the film, Rajsekar Pandian, said in a tweet today that the necessary NOCs from the airforce have been procured, and the new release date will be announced soon. He also mentioned "Festival of Lights" in his tweet, suggesting the film would premiere on Diwali day.

The film, reportedly inspired by the real-life story of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath, was originally supposed to premiere on Amazon Prime on October 30.

Produced by Suriya's own production banner 2D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment, Soorarai Pottru also stars Aparna Balamurali, Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, and Karunas.
