Director Narthan has opted out of the Tamil remake of Mufti, starring Simbu and Gautham Karthik. Reliable sources state that the filmmaker, who also directed the Kannada original, has chosen to leave the project due to various reasons, including the pandemic outbreak. Meanwhile, he also got busy with the pre-production work of his next, starring KGF-fame Yash.

Sources add that Narathan has been replaced by Krishna, who is known for directing the Suriya-Jyotika-starrer Sillunu Oru Kaadhal

The Tamil remake went on floors last year but was stopped due to unknown reasons. Now, the film is expected to begin production again early next year.

Simbu is currently working on his film with Suseenthiran, which also stars Nidhi Agarwal and Bharathiraja. He has the political film Maanaadu with Venkat Prabhu in the pipeline as well.
