Vidya Balan has resumed shooting for Sherni in Madhya Pradesh after the pandemic. The upcoming film is directed by Amit Masurkar and produced by Vikram Malhotra and Shikha Sharma. The project had gone on floors in March but was stalled due to the outbreak.

In Sherni, Vidya essays a forest officer seeking to end the man-animal conflict in the region. The film is written by Aastha Tiku and also stars Vijay Raaz, Sharat Saxena and Ila Arun.

Amit’s last feature, Newton (2017), was submitted as India’s entry to the Oscars. He is also known for directing the slacker-comedy Sulemani Keeda (2013).
