Kate Winslet joins Scott Z Burns’ new thriller Fake! 

The film is based on the scandalous OneCoin Ponzi scheme, a massive cryptocurrency scam.

MGM’s film adaptation of Jen McAdam and Douglas Thompson’s yet unpublished book will be written and directed by popular screenwriter and director Scott Z Burns. The film is titled Fake! Actor Kate Winslet joins the production which is based on the scandalous OneCoin Ponzi scheme, a massive cryptocurrency scam. McAdam is also involved in the film as its executive producer alongside Burns.

Burns’ previous political thriller, The Report which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival was a scathing critique of the CIA’s torturous and inhuman investigative procedures. Scott Z. Burns also wrote Steven Soderbergh’s 2011 feature Contagion that starred Kate Winslet, Matt Damon and Marion Cotillard.

Academy Award-winning actor Winslet’s new film is Francis Lee’s Ammonite, a tender romance between two women. The film, which is set in the 1840s England stars Winslet and Saoirse Ronan. Ammonite played at the Toronto International Film Festival and was an official selection at Cannes and Telluride festivals. Kate Winslet also reunites with James Cameron for the Avatar sequel that is expected to release in 2022.
