Codename: Johnny Walker - Ali Fazal announces next Hollywood project

CE Features

Ali Fazal has announced his upcoming Hollywood project. The actor has bagged the lead role in Codename: Johnny Walker. The war drama is based on the New York Times bestseller of the same name and is co-written by Jim Delfice, who also co-wrote American Sniper. The script has been in the works since September 2015.

In an interview with GQ, Ali is quoted as saying, “People [in the West] are now more open to writing parts that can have actors cast from across the canvas. This is very hard to do because you have to get geography out of your head. Naturally, not all movies can do that – an Indian film about a farmer in the hinterland can’t cast Tom Cruise.”

Ali is also part of Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming film, Death On The Nile. The detective-drama stars Gal Gadot, Tom Bateman, Armie Hammer, and others. Back home, Ali will be seen in the second season of Mirzapur. The Amazon Prime series is set to stream from October 22.
