The theatrical release of Denis Villeneuve’s latest fantasy epic, Dune has been pushed to October 2021. After several delays due to the pandemic, the film was set to debut in theatres this December. But now, Warner Bros has announced a further postponement.

This announcement comes post the delay in the release of the latest Bond film, No Time to Die, starring Daniel Craig and Léa Seydoux.

Dune, produced by Warner Bros Pictures, is based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name. The novel was initially adapted into a film by David Lynch in 1984. The 2020 film helmed by Denis Villeneuve features Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin and Zendaya in prominent roles.

The trailer of Villeneuve’s staggering saga premiered on Youtube on September 9, 2020. The trailer hailed that the film will be available only in theatres.

Recently, Warner Bros’ major production Tenet opened to a moderate reception due to limited functioning of theatres worldwide. This appears to have had an impact on the release plans of several other films.

The production house has also postponed the release of Matt Reeves’The Batman to 2022 due to various unprecedented changes in the studio’s schedule caused due to the Covid-19 crisis. The Batman was set to premier on October, 2021.
