The sequel to this year's action-thriller Extraction, which starred Chris Hemsworth in the lead, will go on floors next year. Director Joe Russo, who co-produced Extraction, confirmed in a recent interaction with Comicbook.com that the script work for the Netflix sequel is already underway and that production will commence in 2021.

He said, "Yeah, we're still working on (Extraction 2). We're in the script phase right now but we're hoping to shoot sometime next year. I'm super excited, Hemsworth's super excited, Netflix is excited — so it's really just a function of getting the script done."

It is not clear if stunt director Sam Hargrave, who turned director with Extraction, will return for the sequel. Hargrave is currently working as the Second Unit Director for season two of The Mandalorian. Hemsworth, on the other hand, has Spiderhead with director Joseph Kosinski, which went on floors this month.
