Former child artist Anikha Surendran, who is famous for her role in films like Viswasam, Yennai Arindhal and Bhaskar The Rascal, will be making her debut as a heroine with the upcoming Telugu remake of the Malayalam film Kappela. 

Anikha will be playing Anna Ben's role from the original. Previously, we had reported that the Queen actor was being considered for the role along with  Krithi Shetty and Nithya Shetty.

Kappela tells the story of a naive happy-go-lucky girl who falls in love with an autorickshaw driver. Complete with a social message, the Malayalam version garnered positive reviews from the audience and critics alike after it started streaming on Netflix.

Actors Vishwak Sen and Naveen Chandra are expected to play Sreenath Bhasi and Roshan Matthews' roles, respectively, in the remake. 

Sithara Entertainments, the makers of the Telugu version, will be making an official announcement about the film's title and crew soon.
