Bollywood actor Faraaz Khan has passed away at the age of 46. The actor was battling for his life after being diagnosed with a brain infection.

The actor's death was confirmed by actress-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt on social media.

Last month, it was revealed that Faraaz Khan, who is well-known for starring opposite Rani Mukerji in Mehndi (1998) and in Vikram Bhatt's Fareb (1996), suffered three consecutive seizures owing to a herpes infection in his brain that had spread from his chest. It was reported that the actor developed pneumonia as a consequence of the seizures, and that he had been battling for life in a hospital in Bengaluru.

Soon after the news of Faraaz's illness came out, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan had extended support. According to actor Kashmera Shah, Salman had also paid Faraaz's hospital bills.

Faraaz has featured in films like Dulhan Banoo Main Teri, Chand Bujh Gaya, Ssshhhh...Koi Hai and Kareena Kareena.
