A BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh has filed a complaint against Anushka Sharma’s Amazon Prime web-series, Paatal Lok, for using his picture without permission.

In the show, there’s a shot of a newspaper picture with the antagonist Bajpayee cutting a ribbon. In the photo, the complainant, Nandkishore Gurjar, is seen standing in the back. According to reports, Gurjar has objected to the unauthorised use of his likeness. He has also called the show ‘anti-national’ and said it maligns the image of the BJP. The original picture was reportedly tweeted by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in 2018.

Earlier, the All Arunachal Pradesh Gorkha Youth Association had filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) against Paatal Lok for using a racial slur against the Nepali-speaking community. Similar complaints were also filed by the Bharatiya Gorkha Yuva Parisangh and lawyer Viren Sri Gurung.
