The Tamil Film Producers' Council has submitted a request to the Tamil Nadu Government to grant permission to resume shooting activities. Shooting for films have come to a standstill since the country went into lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. 

The request comes in the aftermath of the government’s decision to allow private companies and industries to function with 50 per cent of their employees. 

Quoting the same in their request, the producers have said that more than 50 per cent of films only have a few days of shooting left to complete. “Around Rs 600 crores of investment has been locked in these films. Similar to the industries that have been allowed to function, we request permission to shoot with the same regulations (100 per cent permission for crews less than 100 people, and 50 per cent in cases of larger crews, with minimum set at 100 people),” the letter read. The producers have also insisted and reassured that all safety precautions necessary will be taken. 

Notably, the government earlier allowed film crews to resume post-production work from May 11. Work such as editing, dubbing, DI, rerecording, sound designing/mixing (with a maximum of five people), and VFX/CGI (with 10 to 15 people) were allowed.
