Harvey Weinstein diagnosed with coronavirus in prison

CE Features

Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, convicted for rape and sexual assault, has reportedly tested positive for the novel coronavirus in prison and has been kept in medical isolation.

Reports say two other inmates at the prison have also tested positive for Covid-19. He was earlier admitted to Bellevue hospital "for safety" after he experienced high blood pressure and heart palpitations.

Weinstein, who has been accused of assaulting many women, was sentenced to 23 years in jail earlier this month for raping an aspiring actress in a hotel in New York in 2013 and forcing oral sex on a former TV and film production assistant at his apartment in 2006. In addition to his current sentence, Weinstein also faces four charges of rape and sexual assault in Los Angeles, where the district attorney has started the procedure.

The Los Angeles proceedings have been delayed owing to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
