Singer Kanika Kapoor, who recently tested positive for COVID-19, has been booked for negligence. The London-returned singer had reportedly withheld her travel history from authorities and attended three parties in Lucknow, including a dinner with senior politicians. She was admitted to King George's Medical University (KGMU) where she tested positive on Friday (March 20).

The Uttar Pradesh police have registered an FIR against Kanika for committing negligent acts likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life. The singer has also been charged with disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant.

“For the past four days I have had signs of flu, I got myself tested and it came positive for Covid-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward. Contact mapping of people I have been in touch with is underway as well,” Kanika had shared on Instagram, urging her fans to practise self-isolation and get tested if symptoms appear.
