Uppena release pushed to May?

CE Features

The release date of Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty-starrer Uppena has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, say reports. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film was supposed to hit theatres on April 2.

The makers, however, have decided to push the film to May. According to a source, the rustic revenge love story is now set to be released on May 7, the same day which saw the release of director Sukumar's debut film Arya in 2004.

"Buchi Babu, who is a former associate of Sukumar, believes that releasing his debut film on the same day as Arya will bring him luck. The makers agreed and have locked May 7 as the new release date of the film. An official announcement will be made in a day or two," informs the source.

Inspired by the Nalgonda honour killing incident, Uppena has Vijay Sethupathi playing the antagonist.
