Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth released a statement appreciating the government's efforts in containing the spread of coronavirus and advised people to co-operate with the measures taken by the state.

He further requested the government to provide monetary assistance to people who have lost their livelihood at this tough time, as it would benefit them hugely. The state government has announced a slew of measures including the closure of educational institutions, malls, swimming pools, gyms and theatres in Tamil Nadu until March 31 to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus. The public has been advised to maintain social distancing and stay at home as much as possible.
