Many leading producers have come together to form a team called Tamil Film Producers' Protection Team to contest in the upcoming Producers Council election. 

The tenure of actor-producer Vishal came to an end last year in April and the government then appointed an officer to oversee the activities of the body. It is said that the election to chose the next office bearers will be conducted in the second week of May. 

Meanwhile, producers like T Siva, Thenappan, RK Suresh, G Dhananjayan, and many others have formed a team to contest in the upcoming election. 

In a statement, the team has said that they will ensure the welfare, growth, and protection of the members of the Tamil Film Producers Council.
