CE Features

Ranveer Singh-starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar will be released on October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti), Yash Raj Films has announced. Consequently, Farhan Akhtar’s Toofan — which was earlier slated to hit screens on October 2  — will now be released on September 18.

“In the interest of both films and to ensure an ideal theatrical release, (producers) Aditya Chopra and Ritesh Sidhwani have decided to release their films on different dates. YRF will release Jayeshbhai Jordaar on October 2 and Excel Entertainment will release Toofaan on September 18,” a YRF spokesperson confirmed.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar is being helmed by debutant writer-director Divyang Thakkar. Ranveer essays the unlikely titular hero, a Gujarati man championing the cause of women empowerment. The comedy-drama stars Shalini Pandey as the female lead. The supporting cast includes Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Aparshakti Khurrana.

Ranveer’s upcoming release, '83, is also likely to get a new release date due to the coronavirus outbreak. Similarly, even Sooryavanshi, in which Ranveer co-stars with Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Katrina Kaif has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak across the world.
