Hotstar rolls back Disney+, says it was testing 'beta version'

Hotstar has removed the Disney+ content from its website after the OTT service went live on Wednesday. The streaming platform clarified that it was testing the ‘beta version’ in India and Disney+ Hotstar will be officially launched on the initially scheduled date on March 29.

An updated version of the app with a new logo and colour scheme was available for web, Android and iOS users in India yesterday, eighteen days ahead of its launch date. But the streaming platform has now reverted to its original state. 

With the rollback, Disney+ shows such as Diary of a Future PresidentDisney Family SundaysDisney’s Fairy Tale WeddingsEncoreHigh School MusicalThe Mandalorian, and The World According to Jeff Goldblum will not be available until it is launched officially.

A Hotstar spokesperson reportedly said, "A limited release of the beta version of the Disney+ Hotstar app is currently being tested with a small number of consumers, in preparation for the full-fledged app launch on March 29."
