The makers of Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway have postponed the release of the film due to the spread of coronavirus. The film, which was initially scheduled for release on March 27, will now come out on August 7.

If released on the initially scheduled date, the film might have been hard hit by the theatrical disruptions due to the coronavirus scare.

As the impact of coronavirus poses a major health risk worldwide, theatres in Italy and China continue to remain shut.

The previous film earned $351 million worldwide, of which, $236 million came from international markets and $115 million from the US box office.

The James Corden-voiced live-action and CGI sequel also features Domhnall Gleeson and Rose Byrne in live-action scenes alongside the voices of Margot Robbie and Elizabeth Debicki.

Sony's announcement comes following the postponement of James Bond film No Time To Die from its original launch of April 2 to November 25.
