Kristen Stewart to play Princess Diana in Pablo Larrain’s Spencer

The film will focus on the weekend when Princess Diana decided to separate from Prince Charles

Pablo Larrain, who last made the MUBI original Ema, is set to next direct and produce a film titled Spencer. The film is about Princess Diana Frances Spencer and her strained relationship with Prince Charles. According to Variety, Kristen Stewart has been roped in to play the princess in the film. 

The film is predominantly about the weekend when Diana decided to live separately from Prince Charles. The couple got married in 1981 and their relationship turned sour due to extramarital affairs. They got a divorce in 1996, and Diana was killed in a road accident in Paris in 1997. 

The film will be produced by Pablo Larrain along with Juan de Dios Larrain under their banner Fabula.
